This is Not Just a School for Service Dogs...
We train people! Our 18 month program is more than obedience school. As our admitted student, we will guide you through a comprehensive education including learning theory, dog development, care and management, applied training skills and drills, and customized service dog tasking based on your specific medical needs. Click the arrow on the right to expand and read more about our program.
You will learn through hands on practices working with AVSDA service dog puppies-in-training or your own approved service dog candidate.
Our classes cover learning theory, dog care and management, applied training skills and drills, public access training, and medically necessary tasking basics.
Our methods are fear-free, force-free, and reward based. Service dogs are respected partners viewed as social subjects and treated with love and care.
We are here to guide you through the entire process of acquiring, raising, caring for, and training your own service dog.
AVSDA veterans who apply and meet criteria will be offered the opportunity to adopt one of our puppies upon graduating the program.
We offer full scholarships covering 100% of tuition for qualifying veterans. We provide adoptable service-dog-in-training puppies to qualified students.
